Gucci Gucci Goo
App Prototype — Haute Couture Designer Babies
This was an assignment in one of my UX/UI classes at CU Boulder. The project was to create an out-of-the-box app about genetics. This was created in Invision, the wireframe was blue-printed Adobe Xd, and all graphics were done in Photoshop and Illustrator.
I introduce to you: Gucci Gucci Goo. Haute couture designer babies will be the next “big thing” for society’s top 1%. In reality, genome modification is already here. Are you worried your baby will get your husbands’ hairline? We won’t let that happen.
Genetic modification is already here and happening in the real world. There are clear ethical concerns presented with this, but for now, it’s mostly being used so people can live longer and healthier lives. The biggest pioneer of this technology is CRISPR. My app is completely satirical, but we may see something similar in the near future.
They say money can’t make you happy, buy it can make you beautiful. Let’s be honest, most babies are ugly. But yours doesn’t have to be! Gucci is partnering with 23andMe for the first ever ‘build-your-baby’ app. Simply place the traits you want your future baby to have in your shopping cart and we’ll modify you and your partners DNA.
The term ‘designer baby’ refers to a baby whose genetic makeup has been selected or altered, often to include a particular gene or to remove genes associated with diseases. This technology gives us the platform to create a new era of evolved humanity. Altering DNA for more desirable traits such as attractiveness and health.
Follow these steps (in app):
- Apply
- Order DNA test
- Sync DNA to the app
- Customize
- Place order
A preliminary application is required before guccification can happen. These requirements ensure quality control of the babies being produced. If your credentials match, you’ll have access to the customization platform.
23andMe — more than just ancestry. We’re creating the next generation. 23andMe is a privately held personal genomics and biotechnology company based in Mountain View, California. The company is named for the 23 pairs of chromosomes in a normal human cell. In 2013, the company was awarded a patent for “gamete donor selection,” which enables parents to handpick favorite qualities of their sperm and egg to be present in their children. Hence the establishment of Gucci Gucci Goo.
How to get your DNA: The saliva test is $199. Tests typically take 5 business days to ship. The test must be taken by both patients. Your files will then be e-mailed to you in 2 weeks. Save the attached PDF documents to your device and begin guccifying your dream baby.
Premium customization options include:
- Gender ($50,000)
- Birthdate ($25,000)
- Ethnicity ($35,000)
- Eye color ($25,000)
- Hair color ($25,000)

Payment Received: Congrats! Your baby won’t be ugly. Next, you will need to schedule an appointment with a Gucci verified doctor to receive your modified DNA samples. The samples from each partner will combine and your Gucci baby will configure in approx. 9 months.
